Posted On 08/13/2009 01:37:06 by DirectorProcurement

Hello, I am Enrique (Rick) Sampson, DM and serve as the director of procurement and live in O Fallon, MO (outside of St. Louis). I am interested in conducting research on the health of the US aerospace industry, procurement best practices, and leadership roles of this most challenging industry. My dissertation topic focused outsourcing within aerospace manufacturing enterprises: a phenomenological study and outsourcing leadership model.

Now that our US presidential election is over and our
country decided to reelect president Obama, there are many challenges facing
the US aerospace industry. There are 47 states that depend on the aerospace
industry for high technology jobs and there is a need today for engineers and
skilled technicians to fill the positions in the coming years. With the threat
of sequestration, anticipated to take hold in 1st qtr of 2013 and
the instability of our political climate may force the US Aerospace Industry to
take drastic mitigated actions to reduce their labor force in anticipation of cuts
in US government defense programs. The action for elected politicians, the
pentagon, and the US aerospace Industry will be to find common ground where
cuts could be made to existing defense systems to reduce the continued growth
of defense spending while providing the war fighter the latest and most
advanced technology to fight the wars of the future. The US needs to stop
building legacy defense systems that is antiquated and is not the best value to
the US tax payer.
