Brief History:
Raised in Queens, NY; attended The Chapel of the Redeemer from kindergarten to the 8th grade; received an regents diploma from Spring field Gardens High School; BS in Psychology from Iona College, MS in Human Resources Administration from University of Scranton and Doctorate in Management from University of Phoenix; Over 12 years of experience as a detailed, results-oriented management professional with human capital experience in the private and public sector. Articulate in compensation, benefits and overall HR policies and principles. I am flexible in supporting large and small groups. Previous knowledge in merger related processes for large companies.  Maintains a broad knowledge of computers and competent in various systems and related software. Embraces change, creativity, humor, and new opportunities.

Leadership and the African American Male: Forty Credits and a Leader (Dissertation)
Currently Being Published

This qualitative phenomenological study explored the experiences and perceptions of 23 African American males who attended five consecutive years in the New York City Department of Education schools. The research revealed how parental teaching is hindered by negative curricula, while self-identity cultivated in the home needs to reaffirm in the child‘s academic journey. The findings resulted in the desire to have activities before and after the school day, an enhance cultural and historic knowledge with a multicultural curriculum, and family stimuli needs to co-exist with the New York City Department of Education, giving African American males the foundation needed to close the academic achievement gap.

Future Research Interests:

I am interested in the context of organizational leadership and organizational behavior, in relation to the education of the African American male. The planned focus of the research is leadership or entrepreneurialship within diverse organizational contexts such as a charter schools, public elementary schools, and other institutions of learning.  I wish to start a non-profit leadership academy for African American boys ages 5-21.

Teaching Interests:

My teaching interests include the following courses: Management, Organizational Behavior, Organizational Theory and Design, Organizational Management, Business Strategy, Strategic Planning, Entrepreneurship, and Leadership. In addition to teaching interests, I am interested in working with the committee(s)  or designated personnel focused on increasing diversity of faculty and student body and the pursuit (or continuation) of accreditation, as well as curriculum and course schedule development. 

Professional Experience:

  • Participated in the development of investment club.
  • Received certification from NY State in Group Family Daycare
  • Worked as a substitute teacher for the Freeport School District
  • Assisted in the development, implementation and administration of two small businesses
  • Development Assignments - Executive Staffing and Labor Relations
  • Trained co-workers on the Labor Relation Database
  • Counsel Senior Managers and HR Business Partners on all staffing-related issues while managing resolution of and providing innovative solutions to conflicts that may occur throughout the staffing process.

Personal Interests:

Mentoring traditional, non-traditional, working adults in the pursuit of lifelong learning, diversity, and African American entrepreneurships
